Community
Our commitment to you
Our purpose is to build respectful, constructive and enduring relationships with the community. We listen and engage with care, and tailor our approach to reflect the unique character and priorities of each region. Our engagement approach may include face-to-face meetings, community information sessions, newsletters, digital updates and direct conversations, helping ensure projects support resilient communities for generations to come.
Community and stakeholder engagement, shared value and community benefit initiatives are embedded throughout the entire project lifecycle.
We are committed to creating a positive legacy in the Darling Downs region and sharing project benefits broadly. At its core, the Tummaville Solar Farm aims to support Queensland's energy future by helping deliver reliable and affordable renewable energy, while also creating opportunities for regional communities.
As part of the Project's planning and approvals process, we are undertaking a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) in consultation with community members and stakeholders across the region. This process will help inform the development of a Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) with Toowoomba Regional Council. This approach is intended to help identify local priorities, understand potential impacts and opportunities, and support meaningful long-term investment and benefit sharing for the region.
We are also continuing early consultation with key stakeholders, including near neighbours, Traditional Custodians and relevant government agencies as Project planning progresses.
Community benefits
We believe renewable energy projects should create positive and lasting outcomes for the communities beyond the infrastructure itself.
While the Project will contribute to Queensland's renewable energy future and support regional economic activity, we recognise the important of also delivering meaningful, place-based benefits that respond to local priorities and community needs.
From early planning stages, we are committed to working collaboratively with the community, stakeholders and Toowoomba Regional Council to help identify opportunities that support long-term regional resilience and community wellbeing.
- Partnerships, sponsorships and funding support for local community groups, initiatives, and events
- Investment in community infrastructure and public amenity improvements
- Community legacy initiatives identified through local engagement
- Collaborative opportunities through the Community Benefit Agreement (CBA)
The Project is also expected to support regional economic activity through local employment, supplier and services opportunities during construction.
We recognise that meaningful community benefit programs are most effective when informed by local knowledge and community priorities. Engagement with community members and stakeholders will continue to help shape benefits are delivered throughout the life of the Project.
Community Benefit Agreement
A Community Benefit Agreement (CBA) is a formal agreement between a project and Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC), intended to ensure that projects deliver tangible, place-based benefits to the local community.
It's not just a commitment; it's a legally binding agreement that ensures projects contribute to building positive legacies for their host communities.
CBAs sit alongside planning approvals and a project's Social Impact Assessment (SIA). CBAs are informed by extensive community feedback - both through the SIA and project engagement - ensuring benefits respond directly to the needs of those most likely to be affected.
The development of the CBA for the Tummaville Solar Farm will involve ongoing consultation with the community and TRC to help identify local priorities, opportunities and areas of investment that could deliver meaningful long-term value for the region.
Community feedback
Community input is central to shaping the Project. We want to understand the views, values and priorities of those living, working and playing in Tummaville and surrounds, and use that feedback to help inform Project planning, design and mitigation measures.
There will be a range of opportunities for community members and stakeholders to connect with our Project team and provide feedback throughout the planning process, including through:
- Community drop-in sessions, discussions and forums
- One-on-one conversations via phone call, email or in-person
- Online surveys
- Ongoing engagement through other project activities
